Example if your placed image output size is A4 then your image must be 300dpi at A4 size. Simply changing the settings in photoshop will not work, particularly if you are scaling your image up. A simple test is to make your image to output size, then zoom in to 300%, if the image appears blurry chances are it will print blurry.
